Chester City Council lease River Dee fishing rights to Prince Albert Angling Association Macclesfield
Chester City Council have denied local people access to the town waters of the River Dee. They have leased the water to Prince Albert who are based in Macclesfield. Local campaigning has forced the Council to make Prince Albert AS provide residents permits. These however are only available to people living in the City Council area and cost £20 (See How to get a River Dee Residents Permit). The costs for persons outside this boundary are senior £85 per year plus £85 joining fee and there is currently a 2 year waiting list! Juniors can join for £10 and there is no waiting list.
Prince Albert Bailiffs are moving people off the Meadows, Sandy Lane Park, Dee Lane, The Groves, Handbridge below the weir and the Cop at Sealand Road. Chester Tackle Locker is urging the Council to sort this situation and bring the fishing rights back under the control of local anglers.
